NATS
The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at enhancing the skills of Indian youth in various trade disciplines. Established in 1972, NATS provides practical, hands-on on-the-job training opportunities for graduate and diploma students, as well as holders of vocational certificates. The training duration typically ranges from six months to one year. The scheme caters to individuals in the following categories: Graduate, Graduate Sandwich, Technician, Technician Sandwich, and Technician Vocational students or graduates. To facilitate the implementation of NATS, the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT/BOPT) regional offices periodically organise Apprenticeship Fairs. These fairs serve as a platform for students and establishments to connect and address their respective training and manpower requirements.
Through NATS, technically qualified youth acquire the practical knowledge and skills needed in their fields, effectively bridging the gap between academic education and industry requirements.
